We were appointed by the new owners of this former dairy on a highly prominent gateway site in Chorlton. They wanted to create 5 apartments with a restaurant underneath. We delivered a planning permission that delivers this and that maximises the value of the site. The project needed to be highly saleable to Chorlton’s avant-garde residents as well as being deliverable.
The site was very challenging. It was next to a prominent local eyesore and also in an historic setting. The site overlooked adjacent properties.
We designed a lightweight structure to be built internally to support the new highly modelled façade. There were also a range of other issues to overcome such as overlooking that we dealt with without compromising the fabric of the existing building to be conserved.
Our work included space planning, preparing options, developing a planning application, negotiations with the planning authority and gaining planning permission.
