Our clients from Leeds came to us as they were so inspired but our work. They wanted someone who could handle the challenge of transforming this ugly rear into something beautiful. The garden and views were spectacular but, instead of facilitating its enjoyment, the conservatory created a barrier between the house and garden.
The Victorian semi-detached property had been chopped and changed over the years and sits on a substantially sloping site and the large difference in height at the rear forming another barrier.
Working alongside the Clients we created a stunning two storey rear extension with a large double height space that connects the ground floor entrance level and play area to the kitchen/dining/living and garden below. The space is filled with natural light due to the large expanses of Crittall glazing, allowing for amazing views over the landscape that falls away. A key factor in making the spaces work, was the brave decision to completely change the location of the stair leading up to the first floor bedrooms. Moving the stair opened up the entrance to create a generous hallway with space for cloaks and a direct connection to all of the other rooms and spaces. The project includes bespoke stairs, planning challenges, exposed brick, Crittall glazing, gorgeous flooring.
